The Role

Legal Member

The Legal Member ensures that I2Impact operates with sound governance, legal compliance, and proper documentation. You support the board and teams across all pillars with legal advice, contract management, and insurance — making sure the organisation is protected and compliant with Belgian non-profit law at all times.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

Contracts & Official Documents

  • Draft and review contracts, partnership agreements, and official documents
  • Manage Internal Regulations and Articles of Association
  • Prepare Declarations of Commitment for team members
  • Register mandates and Articles of Association at the competent Commercial Court at the start of the academic year

Insurance & Risk Coverage

  • Manage insurance policies for the organisation
  • Ensure adequate coverage for events and activities
  • Coordinate with Project Coordinators on insurance requirements for Implement2Impact projects

Legal Advice & Compliance

  • Provide legal advice to the board and teams when needed
  • Ensure compliance with Belgian non-profit regulations and organisational statutes
  • Support financial matters that require legal input, such as subsidy applications

General Support

  • Support the organisation during events when an extra pair of hands is needed
  • Communicate legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers across the team
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Project Coordination on overlapping legal matters

Commitment

One full academic year, starting in summer with handover support for the next team

Approximately 6–8 hours per week

Support for other teams during peak periods

Preferably a Law student at KU Leuven or similar
